Is This The World’s Skinniest Snowboard?

Exactly what it says on the tin.

We’ve seen a lot of weird things in our time, but this has got to be one of the most jarring. Like a dog standing on its hind legs, or Terje sitting down for a candlelit dinner with FIS President, Gian-Franco Kasper, this isn’t something we expected to see today.

“Anything skiers can do, snowboarders can do better”

Kenny Shellnut picked up an old twin tip ski from a used sports good store and decided to mount a pair of snowboard bindings on it. The result? Quite possibly the world’s skinniest snowboard. Kenny and his buddy, the aptly named ‘Backflipping Benton’ spent the day tearing it up on the FrankenSki, proving that anything skiers can do, snowboarders can do better.

The video itself is pretty cool, but it left us spiralling down a rabbit hole of curiosity. Is toe-drag just a myth perpetuated by a secret underground cabal of wide snowboard enthusiasts? What could Marcus Kleveland do with the drastically reduced swing weight of one of those things? Is waist width a social construct? Can the Signal crew take it one step further in Every Third Thursday?

Anyway, fair play to them, these boys are ripping. It’s the only half decent thing we’ve seen done with a ski since they invented the shot ski to be honest. If you’ve got some weird shit you wanna send us, be our guest, anything to distract us from the crippling reality of life.
