Brothers McMorris | A Snowboard Movie

Mark and Craig McMorris hit everything from street to gnarly backcountry

Our favourite Canadian brothers have both had their fair share of gnarly injuries and most of us would probably swear off the sport after taking such bad hits. Lucky for us though, seems like there’s nothing that will keep these two brothers from snowboarding – which we’re stoked on!

“It was the trippiest. It felt like we were in a Mack Dawg movie!”

Together with their friends and filmers, Mark McMorris and Craig McMorris have put together a sick compilation of what they got up to last season. Whitelines was lucky enough to have a quick chat with X Games Real Snow Bronze Medalist Craig McMorris about what went on behind the scenes of this project.

When did you start filming for Brothers McMorris?
C: We started in late February. The first trip was to Finland with Eero [Ettala]. The conditions weren’t ideal but I’m pretty happy with what we got.

How was it riding with Eero in his local spots?
C: It was the trippiest. It felt like we were in a Mack Dawg movie! There’s so much history there. Eero is such a professional, so we were able to stack.

Your backcountry part looked sick! How was it to ride with Travis? Looked gnarly!
C: So, we actually did two trips to Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. They were so accommodating. Our first trip was with the full crew and we got stuck in a storm so we couldn’t fly as much as we would have liked to. The second trip was insane though. We had a smaller crew and lots of sun. Travis took the lead we just tried to keep up!

“I’m actually going to be doing X Games Real Snow again with Marcus”

What were your highlights from filming?
C: By far the biggest highlight was the crew. Getting to spend a lot of time with Mark was super special as well as the rest of the crew. It was just travelling the world with your best friends.

How was it to film for the X Games Real Snow?
C: Hard! It’s such a grind but so satisfying when you do get a clip. I was working with Marcus Skin and he is the hardest worker. I love being part of a team and being accountable to your partner. It’s a super different way of filming.

What are your plans for the upcoming season? Anything you’re particularly looking forward to?
C: I’m actually going to be doing X Games Real Snow again with Marcus. I’m looking forward to that and also doing the Golden, BC stop of Freeride World Tour! It’s going to be a busy year but super fun.
