We’ve been looking forward to the Suzuki/O’Neill Nine Queens contest in Livingno for a while, mainly due to the amazing setup. Plus it’s the first year that snowboarders have been invited to this traditionally ski-only event.
With the likes of Silje Norendal, Possum Torr and Isabel Derungs in attendance, it was always going to be a banger. Our own Jenny Jones was there too, looking for her best result since… well, this one.
Thanks to a frontside 900, Jenny did well enough to share third place with Isabel, owner of one of the finest backside rodeos in the business. Jessika Jenson pipped them to second place, with Swiss rider Elena Könz topping the field.
Among those impressed with Jenny’s efforts was Kjersti Buaas, who had this to say:“It’s fun to see Jenny pushing it with the frontside 900, i’ve watched her wanting to stomp that trick for a while and she’s been working on it hard. It was sick to see that she set the bar that high.”
After the gruelling post-Olympic publicity junket, it’s great to see JJ back doing what she loves. And doing it bloomin’ well too. See below for more shots from the event.
