It was bad news last month when the famous Coe Cup had to be postponed due to adverse weather at Glencoe. With the rescheduled event set for Saturday 26th April, there was some fear that it’d be too late by then to get the best out of the mountain.
As it turned out, of course, the snow just kept coming. With only a few days to go, the face is absolutely packed thanks to a recent dump, and the local riders are buzzing. From crevasses to double cliff-drops, it looks like enough to keep Xavier De Le Rue busy.
The event is the final stop of the Scottish Freedom Series, organised by Snowsport Scotland. It’s also the only leg of the tour that’s also a Freeride World Tour Qualifier. Entry is still open for what promises to be an epic that could well surpass last year’s event. Visit the Scottish Freedom Series site to find out more, or get up-to-date info from the Coe Cup Facebook page.
