Mammoth Mountain announces early opening

Mammoth Mountain in California has announced that it will open its gates early this year, thanks to the snow that has been dumping on the region in recent weeks.

Shredders and other snow enthusiasts will be able to get their fix at Mammoth from October 16th this year, as the mountain opens its lifts this Friday. Only once has the resort opened its lifts before that date, back in 1994.

Mammoth’s head of marketing Howard Pickett said: “We are so excited to start the season nearly four weeks ahead of schedule.” He added that the resort will be making lift-passes free for those who turn up to shred on the opening day.

Am I the only one here wishing I lived in California right about now….?
