A month or so ago, we announced that we were looking for a team to represent the glorious name of Whitelines in the Snowball Rally – the UK snowboarding equivalent of the Gumball Rally.
We’re happy to announce that we’ve now found the men for the job – Martin Hunt, and his friends Lee Tickner, Mike Weir will be flying the flag for this magazine at the event. The Snowball Rally, which is organised by the charity Snow Camp, asks competitors to raise £250 in sponsorship each by burning round the UK at top speed hitting up as many dryslopes as they can over the period of a weekend. Competitors earn points for hitting dryslopes further from the starting point in Milton Keynes, and after three days, all the teams must be back at the finishing line for the closing party and prize-giving.
While we’re (obviously!) expecting nothing less than a win from our boys, the real point of the exercise is to raise money for Snow Camp – which aims to give kids from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to try snowboarding. You can read more about the charity here but basically what you need to know is that this is a really worthy cause, dedicated not only to making these kids lives better, but spreading the word about the sport we all love to people who wouldn’t get a chance to try it usually.
If you feel like supporting the brave boys from Team Whitelines in their quest to raise money for the cause (while winning that trophy of course!), check out their Just Giving link here. All money you give goes directly to the charity.
