Victor de le Rue takes the quickest route down this Alaskan peak, captured through the lens of Oli Gagnon, who had this to say on the shot:
“I got pretty lucky for this photo. The light was super rad and we were shooting from the heli with the doors off, and I could see the crazy glacier in the backdrop. However, it’s pretty much impossible to tell the pilot, “OK, you have to be at this angle when he’s laying down the slash so I can get that ice in the background!” So yeah, it’s pretty much always about luck when shooting from a heli. If I remember well, I started shooting this vertical and I changed my mind halfway through just when the ice got in the frame! There were some weird frames in that sequence!”
