Whaaaa?! Imagine the casual shopper’s reaction to catching this little encounter in a sports shop in California. David Beckham, famous in America for his footballing (sorry, soccer) and Olympic gold medalist Shaun White meet as David’s kids try on skate helmets and boards, clearly enjoying the Californian lifestyle. The Daily Mail pretty much spaffed themselves over this one. Let’s be honest – they googled Shaun first.
Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and five-year-old Cruz were reportedly super excited to meet the champion snowboarder and skateboarder. Brooklyn especially has picked up the boarding vibe well, after being taught how to skateboard by school friends in the sunny state and seen practising his tricks down the park.
Shaun White, the 24-year-old champion rider, has won Olympic gold medals at both the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. He also has a string of snowboarding video games and is undoubtedly the Tony Hawk of the snowboarding world.
The same could be said for Beckham, holder of an OBE, midfielder for soccer team L.A. Galaxy, married to pregnant ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and general star of all things footy. It was a real clash of the titans to see them both in one place. It’s hard to tell which is more famous! Now stop blocking the tills.
