Time is ticking away for young riders to register as the Oakley Grom Games approaches. The contest, which will pit young potential pros and future superstars against each other, takes place in Manchester’s Chill Factore next Saturday (April 17th). Several exciting young riders are already confirmed as attending, including London’s Lon Cannu, Sparrow Knox and Jamie Nicholls.
The idea is to create a relaxed atmosphere in which young UK snowboarders can shred together and push each other – and the evening is open to everyone, from seasoned pros to the tiniest kids. However there’s also a competition element to the evening, with the best riders from the open jam sessions being selected to go through to the finals where they can compete for prizes like a 50″ Panasonic plasma TV!
For the judged bit of the evening, riders will be divided into four age group categories: 12 years & under, 13 -17 year olds, 18 – 24 year olds and 25s & over. So the comp is by no means just for groms. Our esteemed editor Ed, will be joining non other than Jenny Jones on the judging panel – making this the perfect place for riders to show off their skills to the UK’s finest.
But more than prizes or competition, this event is just about getting kids out onto the slopes and enjoying the shred! Head over to www.gromgames.co.uk to register.
