Sparrow Knox won the Giro British Indoor Big Air last Saturday at Milton Keynes, beating a talent-packed field to take the first indoor title of this year’s British Snow Tour. In the Pint-sized ripper Katie Omerod won the women’s category.
With Steve Revill and his team of shapers creating three, six, and ten-metre kickers for the occasion there were more than enough options for the large field of riders to choose from. The comp took on a new format this year, with a jam session kicking off the evening. Everyone got stuck in, and all manner of inverted trickery was thrown down in the easy, anything-goes atmosphere. In the end, when it counted it was Sparrow Knox who pulled the goods out of the bag, whipping out a perfectly styled back rodeo 5 to take the win ahead of Mike Austin’s frontside rodeo and Jordy Gee’s 7.
In the women’s comp, Sophie Nicholls’ stomped a frontside 180 melon to finish second behind little miss Omerod’s back 3. Becky Menday came in third. The British Snow Tour stays indoors for its next event, rolling up towards the freestyle mecca of Cas-Vegas where the Protest slopestyle champs will take place on October 9th, before finishing up at the Ski & Snowboard show in London on October 22nd.
