Proof (if any were needed) that riders will beg, borrow or steal to get the kit they need: the American snowsports market generated a record $3.3 billion in sales during the 2010/11 season, beating the previous record by $300 million.
Despite the well-reported global economic issues, snowsports was one area that remained seemingly recession-proof. Some of the broken-down figures make for interesting reading as well; as many would have predicted, helmet use is still slowly creeping up, with 3% more users than last year. Something that we didn’t see coming, though, is that reverse camber (AKA rocker) boards accounted for a whopping 45% of all boards sold across the pond this season! It begs the question: could 2011/12 be the first year where classic camber users are in the minority?
