Hemel Hempstead’s Snow Centre has only been open for a matter of months, but already it’s home to a burgeoning and progressive freestyle scene. To celebrate the achievements of the locla rippers and to get their talents recognised, the Hemel movers, shakers and park shapers have decided to launch a video competition.
Here are the details they sent us:

The Competition
Simply put, we want you to capture 2 mins of pure Park and Ride magic then bottle it to create an incredible video for the world to see. There are two ways to win, either send viewer numbers into the stratosphere on YOUTUBE, or knock out the judges with a style MDP would be proud of, suceed in either way and you will be the sweaty palmed owner of a full season pass for THE SNOW CENTRE!
How to Enter
We’ve only got 20 exclusive places for our Freestyle Video comp, so register now! Email [email protected] with your name, age, telephone number, email address, and preferred filming date (Friday 30 October or Friday 6 November). Time slots will be awarded on a first come first served basis.
Filming & Editing
You will be given a 30-minute period to ditch your lens cap, press the red button and film the riders on the best snow this side of the Alps. The evening will be free for all film-makers but you will have to pay if you decide to ride as well. Make sure your creative genius is no longer than 2 ∏ minutes or it will be disqualified.
The Judges
This ain’t no X-Factor, but the judges are still KING! Here’s who’s totting up the scores on the doors, so start dropping the bribes now!
– The Snow Centre’s director of snowsports, Pete Gillespie
– The one and only DWA shaping crew
– The most famous British snowboard film maker who isn’t Tim Warwood, it’s only Adam Gendle!
How to Win
There are two ways to win a coveted freestyle season pass worth £1,500:
1. Impress the judges – they’re looking for the following criteria: best tricks, best editing, most original music, best use of park features, most creative use of Snow Centre branding and of course, most entertaining (check out our Snow Stig on Youtube!).
2. Blitz those views! Be the video that receives the most hits on Youtube – it’s your job to make sure people are viewing your film so spread the word.
Deadline
You will have two weeks to edit the film – deadline for entries is 5pm 20 November 2009. All entries must be no longer than 2 minutes 30 seconds, in QuickTime .MOV, Windows .AVI, or .MPG files format and burned on a DVD disk.
