On November 29th we opened our second shop, this one in Bristol.
Following on from our successful Carnaby Street store (opened October 2007),
Bristol is a much bigger space where we have more room to tell the howies
story.
Russell Ashdown was the interior designer of the Bristol store who is a
Bristol based interior design specialist engaged in the low impact evolution
of buildings. Russell’s company is called Remodel LTD
Russell worked with the concept given to him by howies founders David and
Clare Hieatt.
The concept of the store is like our catalogues:
To remember our job is to make people think as well as to buy.
To remember quality in a world obsessed about quantity.
To consider the planet in everything we make.
To be more howies, but to more people.
At howies were always to be more than just another active clothing company
and try to get people to think, in the beginning it was through our
t-shirts, then our catalogues and website, and now we have our shops which
is another great way to get our beliefs out there (we believe in getting it
out there).
We have great plans for using this store to make people think, through our
art installations, shop windows, staircase gallery, brain food books, and
Denim room/ lecture space.
This image is from the denim room This space can also be cleared very
quickly into a lecture room, where we hold lectures and discussions each
month.
