Words: Freeze Pro Shop’s Al Conroy
Go Big or Go Home returned to the Shredicentre of Bearsden on 15th June for what’s fast becoming the UK’s biggest dryslope comp with the largest prize-stash around.
Riders came from all over the UK to session Glasgow’s finest kickers, rails and quarter pipe and there were special guest appearances from Jamie Nicholls and Will Smith representing Salomon.
After some decidedly Scottish weather greeting the riders for practice it dried up and the riding stepped-up. The local crew shone, as ever, with Pete Meadows, Marc McClement, Danny & Matt McCormick upping the ante with each hit. The finals saw the top eight in each category competing for their best two of three hits.
Marc McClement took home the top prize for the guys landing a double rodeo which was trick of the day and possible a first for UK dryslope riding? Edinburgh’s Vaila Chapman rode super strong to take the girls title with a back 5. Full results below.
A massive thank you ‘Sir’ Gerry McCormick for organising the event and to all the sponsors: Freeze Pro Shop, Librance Action Sports Store, Salomon, Nikita, Bawbags, Animal, Westbeach, Vans, DC, Clan, propaganda Snowboards, International Paintball, Butta Wax, Data Wax, Air Hole, Demon, Bent Metal, Penny Skateboards, Neff, Boax, Mons Royale, Oakley, Park, Shakka Events, Anon, Colour Wear, and Armada.
For an alternative edit from the comp, check out Gonzilla’s – it has a different angle on McClement’s double, a bunch of funny stuff and presenting by the ever entertaining Sophie Nicholls. It’s well worth a watch!
