Fresh off the back of stomping his first double corks in Austria last week, young British wunderkind Jamie Nicholls headed to Livigno in Italy to take part in the 5 Star TTR River Jump Contest.
Young Jamie, who has spent most of his teens being billed as a ‘star of the future’ proved once again that he has the talent to back up his reputation, with an awesome performance in the contest. Throwing down an impressive run that included a cab 9, a backside double cork ten and a front nine, Jamie qualified first in his heat, going on to take 12th place over all.
At the top of the leaderboard, the American Eric Willet put down an impressively tech run including a switch back 12, a backside double cork 10 and a double back rodeo to take first place, while Norway’s Gjermund Braaten took second. Roope Tonteri, the talented Finnish kid who won last year’s World Rookie Challenge, took third.
But while these are all impressive, we in the UK are, of course, most impressed by the young Mr Nicholls. Having notched up impressvely high finishes in two major TTR events so far this year (check out the run that got him into the finals of last month’s BEO here), Jamie is surely on course to have his best season yet.
Nice one our kid. Long may this upward trend continue!
