Gang Starr’s Guru dies

We’ve just heard the sad news that Guru, one half of the seminal hip-hop duo Gang Starr, has passed away. According to this MTV article, he lost a long battle with cancer yesterday, at the age of just 43.

Gang Starr’s music has soundtracked many a snowboard film over the years, including Justin Bennee’s classic part from the 2006 Absinthe film More – soundtracked by the classic Code of the Streets. The album featuring that track, 1994’s Hard to Earn, also gave its name to this season’s Tech Nine film.
