We’ve all seen crashes on the hill before – hell, most of us have either been the cause or felt the brunt of one – but it’s rare that one is caught so perfectly as this: a prime example of when slope rules become blurred.
On the one hand it could be argued that the snowboarder is going too fast as he approaches a crowded junction in the piste and should have shown better awareness of what the people in front of him were up to…
…On the other, we’ve all been caught behind the erratic skier who after making neat short turns all the way down the piste decides to put in a huge carve right – from behind another skier – across everyone without checking behind them. You wouldn’t pull across all three lanes on a motorway without checking your mirrors, why should it be any different in a ski resort?
