Nicolas Muller recounts a story of going to visit Terje Haakonsen’s house in Hawaii as one of Burton’s young guns. “I was super impressed with his house so I started asking him about it”, Nico says “and he said to me – Nico, get yourself a good method use it throughout your career and you too will get a house like this.” It’s advice that the young Nico obviously took to heart – not only has his own method featured on countless magazine covers down the years, but he now has his own comfy pad, known as ‘the castle’ in Laax.

Whether or not it’ll buy you a house, the method is definitely a trick you want to master. It’s the epitome of style, and something of a business card for any rider, cos everyone’s is different. However many corks or inverts you can throw in between the lip and the landing you’ll never beat this simple heel-edge grab for a kodak moment.
