After the success of last year’s Red Bull double pipe, where the aptly-named Taylor Gold came out victorious, the event will be returning once again to Aspen next month – on the 11-13th March 2015 to be precise.

It will feature a channel, rail and spine on the central wall as well as wallrides at the bottom of the outer walls

This year however, they seem to be expanding the venture to incorporate more of a slopestyle course both before and after the pipe, meaning that only the most well-rounded riders will be able to utilise the full course.

It no doubt draws some inspiration from last spring’s Danny Davis/Mountain Dew’s Peace Park, especially with the kicker line run in, and features a channel, rail and spine on the central wall as well as wallrides at the bottom of the outer walls. The central transitions will also be a lot mellower than last year, allowing a bit more wriggle-room for creative transfers through the middle before the spine ends in a diamond-shaped jump/hip. The course then finishes with a rail/hip section at the bottom.

As well as the standard contest, there will also be a best trick comp and – most excitingly – a doubles event, potentially drawing out some sides of snowboarding not often seen in contests.

It should make for some interesting viewing, especially if the likes of Nick Baden and Ben Ferguson are able to let loose on it, creative riders with amazing board control and all around ability. It will be streaming live on redbull.com/snow.
