Another alternative contest video dropped today, this time a little known summer slalom race on Mt Hood, and by by little know we actually mean probably the most stacked start list of any contest this year. Seriously.
Incredibly, the line up was more impressive than any Olympics or X Games from the past few years, park rats and and urban hipsters lining up with the old dogs and powder hounds to create what looks to be one of the funnest events right now in the pro circuit.
The course was rad, with YoBeat deeming it “fucked up gnarly,” and the all start cast soon put it through its paces. In attendance were none other than Gigi Ruf, Danny Davis, Tim Eddy, Halldor Helgason, Zak Hale, Arthur Longo, Lucas Debari, Forest Bailey, Jake Blauvelt, Scott Blum, Pat Moore, Iikka Backstrom and of course Austin Smith and Bryan Fox – the men behind the Drink Water phenomenon.
Nicolas Muller, Curtis Ciszek and Harry Kearney came first to third respectively, extra props have to go to Harry as this rounded out a season where he also won the Mt Baker Legendary Banked Slalom. In the women’s Spencer O’Brien won, with Elena Hight and Tori Koski in silver and bronze.
The whole event collected over $20,000 in donations from rider’s sponsors, all going to Water.org to help provide “safe water & the dignity of a toilet for all in our lifetime.” Good fun and a good cause, this is how every snowboard event should be.
