Oakley have released this Mack-Dawg produced video of a new trick recently stomped by double olympic gold medallist, drunken shin kicker and all-round medal enthusiast Shaun White. The trick, which is essentially a double alley-oop rodeo (i.e. a double rodeo spinning in the opposite direction to the direction of travel down the pipe), is both huge and technical in true Shaun White style. But is it actually a world first?

Back in May, Elena Height became the first women to land a double cork in the pipe and actually performed a very similar version of the trick. Shaun’s is notably more laid out, while Elena’s is a little more ‘flipped’. Danny Davis has also apparently landed the trick but no rider is yet to stomp it in competition. Will this be the trick that further widens the gap between Shaun and the rest of the field in terms of tricks and amplitude in the run up to Sochi 2014? Or will young pipe prodigies like Japanese ripper Ayumu Hirano, tipped by many to be the next Shaun White, have progressed enough to truly challenge the Flying Tomato? Only time will tell…

As a side note, what is it with Shaun White and odd animal related apparel? It just serves to give his critics even more ammunition than they already have. We reckon it would be an apt oufit to wear on a throne. Or maybe he’s going for the big bad mafia boss look? Or secretly gone and joined slytherin?
