We all knew he had potential in this comp, but who saw this coming?! The UK’s Billy Morgan not only won his heat but bagged the highest score of the day to boot!
Thanks to a textbook double rodeo off the monster jump and cab 270 on to the rail, our Billy notched up an 85.58 – a full 5.5 points ahead of runner-up Ville Uotila. Given that Billy’s got the triple in the bag, and that this specially-made jump should allow for an even smoother and floatier version, could this be his to lose?
Jamie Nicholls also aced his heat, besting the likes of Ethan Morgan and Tor Lundstrom to take second place behind Sweden’s Sven Thorgren. Jamie and Billy will now face off in the second qualifying round, joined by the likes of Charles Reid and Simon Gruber.
