For those affected by the UK Sports Committee’s decision to axe all Olympic funding for snowboarding, it still stings. British Winter Athletes are now trying to do something about it, taking advantage of the country’s e-petition rules. With 100,000 signatures backing a funding increase, the issue will have to be discussed in the Houses of Parliament.
As Lesley McKenna, Dan Wakeham, Zoe Gillings or Ben Kilner could tell you, drumming up the cash to attend the games is no mean feat, and the UK riders (even heavily sponsored ones) could do with all the help they can get. If you want to help out, visit British Winter Athlete’s e-petition page and cast your vote! Best tell your friends to cast their vote too – snowboarding may be on the rise, but we’re not at X-Factor levels just yet….
