Why We Chose the Goshiki Netplus 3L Jacket

We were drawn to the Goshiki for its excellent fit and clever, purpose-driven design — a jacket built for the deepest days imaginable.

Who Is It For?

Packed with well-placed storage and touring-friendly features, this is one for riders who chase soft snow wherever it hides. If your ideal day involves skin tracks, storm days and sneaky sidecountry laps, you’ll feel right at home.

Construction and Materials

To build the Goshiki jacket Oyuki have turned to NetPlus, a recycled nylon made from reclaimed fishing nets. It cuts the carbon footprint of material production by around 67% compared to virgin nylon — all without sacrificing durability.

As a 3L shell the inner lining, waterproof membrane and outer fabric are bonded into a single tough-yet-comfortable layer. And with a 20K/20K waterproof/breathability rating, it’s built to keep you dry on sweaty ascents and snowy descents alike.

Being uninsulated, you can also dial in your temperature using layers — ideal for touring, where conditions (and your internal thermostat) tend to fluctuate wildly.

Fit and Features

The fit impressed our tester straight out of the bag. It’s true to size, sits naturally at the waist and feels clean on the frame. For riders chasing today’s boxier aesthetic, there’s also a hem drawstring for cinching.

Despite its sleek profile, it boasts a truly bodacious storage compacity.

You get:

  • 6 external pockets
  • 1 zipped internal pocket
  • 2 internal quick-stash pouches (perfect for skins)

All of them are placed to remain easily accessible while wearing a touring pack.

You also get all the powder-day essentials: a powder skirt, articulated cuffs, pit vents for airflow, and fully taped seams.

Round-Up

For riders who want a highly technical backcountry-ready jacket that doesn’t compromise on comfort, the Goshiki is a standout. It feels exceptionally engineered, with every detail serving a purpose.

Pros

  • Expert craftsmanship built for serious functionality
  • Everything you need for the deepest powder days

Cons

  • Naturally all that tech comes at a higher price than something more resort-focused.
  • Our tester found the wrist gators run a little tight, but he has long arms so that’s a normal accommodation for him!

Tester Verdict

Pat Nichols

I was impressed from the moment this jacket arrived. It ships in plant-based packaging and uses NetPlus fabric — proper, meaningful sustainability rather than greenwashing.

Once I pulled the jacket on, the quality of it’s construction became apparent – the fit was fantastic and when tested on snow in some of the most variable early season conditions (think dreamy powder to torrential downpour and everything between) it held up superbly and I got back in the car as dry as the moment I left.

I’ll admit I was slightly wary of the pastel blue colour at first. At well over 6ft, I usually gravitate toward darker tones to avoid looking like a walking lighthouse. But after about the fifth compliment in the lift line, the ego was adequately stroked and the colour earned its seal of approval.

My only minor gripe was the wrist gaiters feeling a little tight, but that’s a recurring issue for me and will only affect similarly lanky riders.

Great jacket — no complaints.
