Fit and Features
One of the main benefits of the Eivy Baselayers is their fit. Unlike a some brands, they haven’t just put out a unisex size range, but instead have listened and learned from their predominantly female customer base. As such, the fit of the garments is more suited to women. You’ll see this in the longer cut at the back of the top, the higher waist in the leggings and the slightly shorter arm lengths.
Extra features include thumb loops to stop them riding up your arms (especially helpful if you’re multi-layering!!), a fleece lined collar in the top and woven patches in both pieces.
There’s also a hidden stash pocket in the waist of the leggings, which is the ideal size for a phone or for some other paraphernalia or contraband you’re looking to carry discreetly. We won’t tell if you don’t…
“Eivy’s Okeo-Tex are constructed to feature a 4-way stretch with a brushed inside to keep it comfortable against your skin”
Roundup
While we love Eivy’s aesthetic, we also love their commitment to being as sustainable as possible. The water-free sublimation process they use for printing their garments contaminates zero water supplies and also produces zero waste for landfill as the paper leftovers from the process are recycled.
Eivy aren’t the only people to make base layers, but they’re some of the best, and certainly have been some of our favourites since the beginning. You’ll find a whole range of different patterns to choose from, we’re currently into the mix-and-match fashion, but you’re the master of your own destiny here. Happy shopping.
Pros:
- Huge range of sizes and patterns to suit every person and style
- They use performance fabric to ensure comfort
Cons:
- They’re not the cheapest on the market
Tester’s Verdict
Stella Pentti – SWrtier, Whitelines
“Eivy was on my radar long before I got the chance to try out their stuff. The colourful, comfy looking kit caught my eye from the very start and once I finally got my hands on a pair of Ice Cold base layers I’m happy to say that there’s certainly more to them than just the eye-catching look.
The high-waisted tights are so, so, comfy. They’re light, they’re soft, they’re super stretchy, all the reasons why I use them for any occasion I can make an excuse to get away wearing a pair of leggings: yoga, travelling, lunch-time-strolls around the park, lounging in on the sofa… and of course snowboarding.
The top is great too, and the long collar really adds a nice layer of protection on the slopes – especially when it’s cold and windy. And, just like the leggings, I’ve found that it serves a purpose off the slopes too, especially for cold-weather morning runs.”
