Who Is The Weston Riva Split For?

This might be your first foray into splitboarding, but chances are you’ve been putting in time on the skin track for a while now. You’re not content to just cruise the pistes and you want a snowboard that will be able to keep up with your adventuring, no matter where it takes you.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

Although you could land or ride the Riva Split switch, the directional twin outline does mean it’s more comfortable going your preferred way. With slightly more rocker in the nose, a small setback and a subtle taper, you’ll find yourself more at home pointing this nose down, especially when the stakes are high.

The camber midbody helps out with the uphills as well as the down, distributing pressure evenly throughout the skin and to the edges to help you bite into the snow as you’re skinning up or making a risky traverse.

Construction and Materials

As the most performance oriented board in the women’s line, the Riva Split has to be able to run with the big dogs. Weston have kitted it out with their lively full wood core, with carbon stringers running end to end to boost the dynamic energy and soak up some of the chatter.

This core is sandwiched with reactive triax fibreglass, to ensure when you’re hooning it (which you will be thanks to the high-end sintered base) that you’ll still be able to control the board with precision.

Split-wise they use Karakoram Ultra Clips, undoubtedly some of the best, most durable and high tech in the game. When you’re miles from civilisation you have to be able to trust in your gear, and Weston know this better than anyone.

Fun fact: The Weston Riva was named after the Riva Ridge in northern Italy in which a battle took place that was one of the keys to Allied victory in Europe during WW2. Pretty cool story for a pretty cool snowboard.
