As much as we’d always vehemently advise against you choosing a snowboard boot purely based on look, if we ever were to do it, it’d be with these. I mean come on, if you could package nostalgia, it’d be the adidas Samba ADV.

The softer flex and low profile aesthetic certainly leans more towards days spent lapping the park, but adidas aren’t one of the most recognisable and popular footwear brands in the world for no reason, they’ve got a couple of tricks up their sleeve to make the samba jive.

“The flex is able to stay consistent long-term thanks to the articulated cuff”

Who Is The BRAND MODEL For?

There’s more than a few subsets of riders who could make the most of the Samba’s, newer riders looking for a budget, easy going option for a gentle learning curve. Street rats and park kids who need something malleable and jibby. Rad Dads looking to relive their football glory days. The list goes on…

Shell & Outsole

An easy-going 5/10 flex sits slap band in the middle of the scale, so while they might not be best for ball shrinking descents down Corbet’s Colouir, they’re gonna be pretty great for most other resort and park riding. The flex is able to stay consistent long-term thanks to the articulated cuff, allowing the boot to flex over and over without distorting the shell or causing and leather blow out.

Laces, laces, laces. The debate will rage on until the end of time. We’re personally fans of them, especially when they add to the nostalgic aesthetic found in the Samba’s. They durable, long lasting, and hey, if you ever snap a lace it couldn’t be easier to fix.

They’re not quite as tech underfoot as the more performance-based models in the line, but you still get a layer of cushioning, plus the traction of Continental Rubber Outsoles.

“The fit is always the most important thing when choosing a boot”

Liner

The fit is always the most important thing when choosing a boot, and adidas have the market cornered with their liners. Their design wraps around either side of the Achilles tendon, locking your foot into place with minimal hassle but allowing for some more room in the toebox than something like the Acerra.

adidas’ Silver Level Ultralon liner, is exactly what it sounds like- the middle ground for tech, comfort and price. Still, they’re not exactly basic and can be custom moulded to your feet to personalise the fit, a great way to ensure you get all-day comfort in your boots.

“It’s nice to see the Samba’s still holding a candle for the OG freestyle side of things”

Roundup

While adidas may be branching out more and more into the technical resort and backcountry side of things with the introduction of their Terrex outerwear, it’s nice to see the Samba’s still holding a candle for the OG freestyle side of things.
