When choosing the right mid-layer, you want to think about the weather you’re most likely to be exposed to whilst wearing one. If you’re no stranger to strapping in when the temperatures drop way below zero, warmth is likely to be a top priority.
For season 20/21 Burton’s gone all-in with their Baker and Helium AK mid and base layer collections. The Baker collection focuses on warmth without adding any bulk or weight. The women’s Baker Power Stretch fleece is an abrasion-resistant fleece that maximises performance thanks to its slimmer fit and four-way stretch material.
“The sweat-wicking abilities of the fleece help moisture travel towards the surface of the mid-layer, pushing it out to the outer layer”
This midweight women’s fleece mid-layer is warm. When it comes to producing mid-layers, fleece is often the heaviest and bulkiest option in the bunch. However, the slim fit of the baker fleece lets the mid-layer sit close to your body. This makes it easier for the garment to move with you, while the stretchy material allows for a wider range of movement.
Thanks to the highly breathable fleece material, and Primaloft’s Power Stretch Pro fabric, you won’t have to worry about getting too warm when moving around either. The sweat-wicking abilities of the fleece help moisture travel towards the surface of the mid-layer, pushing it out to the outer layer. By helping the moisture leave, you won’t get cold once your heart rate starts to come down (as your skin remains dry).
Adding to the mid-layer’s breathability is the panelling placed underneath the arms. The design is minimalistic too, so you won’t have to worry about the panelling adding any extra bulk or weight to the fleece.
The Burton AK Baker Power Stretch fleece is a bluesign approved performance mid-layer that doesn’t lack in versatility – it will keep you warm, dry, and looking good.
