What’s that? YES Snowboard’s best selling park board just got an upgrade? Jackpot, baby! The fan favourite returns for another season and this year it’s had some tweaks to the outline, increasing its performance in the park yet again.

It’s still the same true twin shape, with camrock profile, poplar core and triax fibreglass as years gone by. Not that this ever needed changed – look at most of the best selling park decks on the market and you’ll find the majority going with this configuration.

“Where the Jackpot stood out from the pack – and where it continues to evolve for this season – is in the MidBite sidecut”

Where the Jackpot stood out from the pack – and where it continues to evolve for this season – is in the MidBite sidecut. When it was first introduced to the line three years ago, MidBite provided an effective solution to riders demanding a wider, more stable base for stomping landings, without losing agility and quick edge transitions when setting up for park features.

The sidecut pulls in drastically between the inserts and effectively ‘cheats’ the board’s waist width, whilst maintaining a zero-compromise approach on the volume in the nose and tail. A fairly simple idea, but executed to perfection. For this year, the board takes on an even wider platform, with a reconfigured MidBite. Not only will this suit the increasing demands for bigger freestyle riding, but it will also add a little more versatility to the true twin, should the conditions close the park for the day.

The second big change for this year comes at the ends of the board. The Jackpot now features a sharper transition in the contact points with a flatter, more drawn out kick in the nose and tail.

Both upgrades complement each other brilliantly, providing the same reliable performance associated with the Jackpot, but with fine tuned tweaks, culminating in superior freestyle performance. For riders looking for a chance to push themselves in the park, this could be your winning ticket.

Tester’s Verdict

This was a super fun deck! If I’m going to buy a board, that’s my main criteria. Yeah, you’re not going to ride this down Alaskan couloirs or win X-Games medals with it but I could pop off sidehits, lap the park, lay out some turns and nip through that last bit of untouched pow all with a smile on my face.

There are only three options for stance width for those who are precious about getting that spot on. But as far as true twin, park focussed all-mountain boards go, YES have really hit the … nail on the head with this board (sorry).
