What exactly is Bataleon’s Magic Carpet? A park board or a powder quiver? A freeride deck for directional charging or something that’s equally suited for switch? A poppy, responsive core, or a friendly forgiving ride? One for the expert riders out there, or an intermediate’s confidence booster?
Yes.
The Magic Carpet might just be Bataleon’s secret weapon for the last few out there remaining to convert Triple Base. It’s a bona fide beast for smashing powder laps around your home resort, though a quick glance at its spec could deceive the untrained eye.
Against all logic, the Magic Carpet takes on a true twin shape with a full, tip to tail camber. Bataleon are able to achieve this through two simple steps. Firstly, the board has a slightly wider waist width. Even by downsizing between 3-6cm from your regular snowboard, you have all the surface area to stay up top in deeper conditions.

Secondly, and more importantly, Bataleon’s one of a kind ‘Twin Pow’ triple base profile unlocks a secret level of powder performance that boards of this size and shape simply shouldn’t have. Asides from a very narrow centre base, the majority of the nose and tail are bevelled up to create a ‘wing’ like profile at the ends of the board which allow it to plane across deep stuff.
Where you take it from here is up to you. The Magic Carpet is primed for hucking and chucking it off every sidehit and side-country drop, whichever way you want to come into the take-off or landings. Carbon stringers placed from the inserts straight out to the ends of the nose and tail provide plenty of snap. Even for a shorter twin board, it has deceptively solid pop.
There’s some life along the edges, too. Hollow carbon tubes milled along the middle sections of each sidewall help inject some more precision through the turns, so it keeps performing once the resort’s all tracked out. It’s definitely a board for first lifts, not last, though.
