For this season’s Clout, Endeavor have drawn their inspiration from Mount Seymour based furniture designer, Brent Comber. They’ve taken a seemingly simple piece of wood and turned it into a thing of beauty, crafted for big mountain, freeride chargers.

A full, tip-to-tail camber doesn’t scream backcountry and effortless float, especially these days, with an endless choice of nose rocker profiles and missile-shaped swallowtails to choose from. The magic lies in the details though. 3D sections in the camber lift the contact points up, creating a spoon-like effect, preventing the board from nose-diving into your first powder turn of the day. This year, there’s also the slightly elongated nose and tail to increase surface area and help push the board up in the deeper landings.

It’s built for speed, fitted with one of the fastest, toughest undersides in the industry – the DURA Surf 4001 Sintered base –  but so long as you can keep up with the Clout, it’ll take care of most of the work for you. The nose has been kept additive-free, which makes it a little softer and more manoeuvrable into the start of the turn.

It’s when you move towards the back of the board that the energy starts to load up. Carbon beams run from either side of the front inserts, back down the board, and curve out towards the rear contact points. Turning on the Clout feels a bit like pulling back on a Pinball shooter. The more you push it, the bigger the slingshot out of the corner and into the next round, ready to do it all again.

The core combines poplar and paulownia stringers, reinforced with birchwood around the channel inserts, making it one of the lightest and more responsive cores in Endeavor’s line. Smoothride urethane sidewalls dampen the overall ride out, but the Clout’s far from a limp snowboard – this one packs a hefty punch.
