SHRED. Rarify 2019-2020 Snowboard Goggles Review

UPDATE: Check out our review of the SHRED. Rarify Snowboard Goggles for 2020/2021 by clicking here.

  • Lens: Sphericall
  • System: Classic
  • Price: €220

The SHRED. Rarify is here to please those who prefer a spherical lens. If you’re more of a cylindrical goggle type, have a look at the SHRED. Simplify goggles, as they might be more to your liking.

These lightweight goggles are ideal for anyone looking for a large lens that provides a broad field of view. The lens kills flat light and eliminates that tunnel-like vision we all like to avoid – two things that can ruin the whole day on the slope. SHRED.’s also been generous enough to offer anyone who buys their Rarify goggles a spare lens, so you’ve got one for the more sunny conditions and another for snowfall.

Not only has SHRED. made sure their lenses are top notch, but the goggle frame itself is also made comfortable for your precious face. What may please the ones who use different frames on their face on a daily basis, is that the SHRED. Rarify goggles are compatible with prescription glasses – you won’t need to ditch the glasses for the goggles.

SHRED.’s also made sure your goggles won’t fog up by adding a hydrophobic treatment to the vents which reduces the risk of them clogging up from snow or water.

Tester’s Verdict

Al NasmythFreedom Snowboarding

“These goggles were massive, if I had another set of eyes just above my eyes, they would fit in these goggles. They are OTG but I reckon Dame Edna Everage (one for the kids) could fit her specs in there. If you like the big jet pilot look lenses you’ll like these.

“Note of caution though, if you wear a helmet check they fit between the brim and your nose – they didn’t with my helmet. The ones I tested had the 20% and 45% VTL lenses which both worked well in flat light so might be good for a Japow trip.

“Personally I thought they were a bit similar, so I’d go for the colourways that come with a 14% or 15% VTL lens for the sunnier days.”
