The fourth generation of Nidecker’s Megalight is here. This fast charging weapon has been updated, again, using some of Nidecker’s most recent and advanced tech. No idea what they feed the tech guys over at Nidecker, but if they keep on evolving their boards at this pace, it’s hard to predict what kind of alien-like technology upgrade we can expect next.

The Megalight is ideal for the steep and the deep. Whether you were looking to charge down the steepest of mountains or float through the deepest of snow, it’ll will sail you to your port of choice in a breeze. Not just a powder hound it excels on piste as well, it’s perfect for laying down carves on hard packed slopes – whatever floats your boat, the Nidecker Megalight will be a solid lifelong companion, if you let it.

New for this season is the N-Tech 2.0. This innovative update has been in the making for more than two years now, so safe to say, Nidecker’s put a lot of time and effort into it. It’s an update to Nidecker’s N-Tech, and when combined with the 3D N-concept of the board, it affects the 3D torsion construction in between the feet, giving you even more control over the board than before.

The Freeflex 3.0 technology is another impressive addition the Nidecker Megalight has got going for it, which makes the board stronger and more poppy while decreasing its weight. Throw Nidecker’s fastest sintered base to the mix, and you’ve got yourself a durable light weight vehicle that charges fast and hard.

Year after year, the Megalight keeps proving why it is a good representative of Nidecker’s impeccably high snowboard manufacturing values. This is a beast, ready to face whatever’s thrown its way.

Tester’s Verdict

“The Megalight sounds and looks like a badass. I expected it to ride like a boardercross board but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. For example, as I came to a complete stop on top of a mogul, it bent over it like a tea towel on a kettle.

“In the ride, this board was super easy to manoeuver, butter and play around on, way easier than the 164 size suggests”

The smooth, black base was fast, but it did however get caught on stickier bits. In the ride, this board was super easy to manoeuvre, butter and play around on, way easier than the 164 size suggests.

The board however didn’t throw me around at all, it just bends a bit too much to my liking I guess…Rated 9 on the carve scale (as the Platinum), the Megalight is hard to get from edge to edge cleanly and to lock into a carve. Maybe I just had too high expectations to begin with…

Taking it into the powder, it was really fun with good float thanks to the bendy nose and was great for quick turns through the trees.”
