The asymmetrical shape with a different sidecut on both heel and the toe side, provides precision and power to your heelside carves. In addition to that, there’s the camber profile, which adds even more power to your ride, and gives you impeccable edge hold too.

With Capita’s P2 Superlight core you’re in for a poppy shock absorbent ride. Add the technora flax boosters, new for Capita this season, and you can expect an even smoother ride. If you know you’re one to have a habit of ripping through anything that comes your way, you can be sure this board will keep you from looking like Bambi on ice while doing so.

All new for Capita this season – the Quantum Drive Base. This is an improved version of last years Ultradrive base, making any board that is carrying this base a fast blazing durable maverick ready to rip. Do yourself a favour and embrace your inner rebel – get yourself the new Capita Asymulator.

Tester’s Verdict

Paul WoolProfessor

“I’d never heard of this board before or frankly knew anything about it before riding it for two days in February. I was very pleasantly surprised by this nice piece of kit from Capita. It’s ideal for a freestyle enthusiasts who like to rail a few carves on his/her commute to the park.

In your hand the first thing you notice are the prime graphics, odd and crazy, on a gnarly asymmetrical shape. This isn’t fashion over function, the Capita Asymulator delivers in all the right areas. The build quality is evident to see, it is a tough looking board with plenty of tech and a great finish. It has a medium flex, which feels pretty even throughout.

On the snow its freestyle capabilities become apparent pretty quick. It is a twin with a lot of pop, one that wants to launch off everything in your way. It feels super light and dexterous, demanding to be thrown around and tweaked out.

“Out of the park, on and off piste, the board charges hard and rams over chop and slop with the ease of a bigger stiffer board”

In the park, it is exceptional. I was stoked on the asymmetrical shape – it is a reassuring addition, a comfort on run-ins and when landing regular – there’s just more edge in the right place. Even riding switch is fine, really. The camber delivers when you need it, ollies and pop off lips is really good.

In the air it feels solid and stable. It’s light, moves well, and wants to be tweaked out. As mentioned, it has a forgiving edge for sketchy landings, and gets in and out of rails and boxes with relative ease. Out of the park the freestyle banter doesn’t stop, all mountain attributes come into play supporting drops and side hits. The asymmetric shape doesn’t affect butters, and the nice twin flex is great for pressing.

Out of the park, on and off piste, the board charges hard and rams over chop and slop with the ease of a bigger stiffer board. The base is decent and moves well. Given this boards category, I found its carving ability to be excellent, relatively speaking. Carving is definitely aided by the asymmetrical shape that engaged turns and gave a solid edge hold, it is responsive and dexterous; great for sharp and nimble turns. It is let down (slightly) when carving at speed. It felt a bit out of control when really railing at it, and there was a bit of chatter creeping in. I guess the mellow camber and mid flex would account for this – but you can’t have everything all the time – not a major compromise.

Overall, I loved this board. It is a great freestyle machine that manages to carve well, a real curiosity. Ideal for anyone, beginner to expert, with the aforementioned needs. It also has some of my favourite graphics of the year, a truly exceptional looking board that has the credentials to match.”
