Despite its name, the Ultra Mind Expander has a totally different vibe to it than its playful predecessor Mind Expander. The Ultra Mind Expander snowboard has had camber added to it, as well as more premium materials and a stiffer flex (which already tells you it may differ quite a lot from the surf rocker shaped Mind Expander).
In practice this means that the Ultra Mind Expander is more suited for rougher conditions, while the Standard Mind Expander is more aimed at riding soft snow. The Ultra Mind Expander Snowboard is also meant to be ridden a bit shorter than your normal one, so if you’re used to riding a 158 you might want to choose a 154 for this one.
“If you are a Flagship rider that likes a stiff, responsive board, but you want to bring some surf funk into your world, the Ultra Mind Expander is your board” – Jeremy Jones
Anyone who’s looking for a powerful yet playful snowboard might just need to give this one a go. It’s not as forgiving in deep pow as the standard Mind Expander, but it will give you much better performance in rougher conditions and hard snow. No wonder Jeremy Jones is a fan.
