A brand new true twin, the K2 Afterblack snowboard is a reminder that, for K2, it’s not all about the pow-chasing Enjoyer Series. It’s always done a fine line in freestyle boards too, and here’s one aimed at the bolder, more experienced rider.
The K2 Afterblack is one of the first boards to feature the brand’s new ‘Combination Camber’ profile. It’s essentially the classic bend with short rocker sections at each end – a popular choice for park rats who want something that can pop but doesn’t feel too clinical from edge to edge.

As is perhaps to be expected for a freestyle board favoured by pro riders, the Afterblack is pretty fierce torsionally. As well as the triax fibreglass throughout, there’s also a carbon stringer ‘X’ under each foot.
Response is therefore pretty on point, at the expense of some playfulness – but if you prefer airtime to jibbing then you’ll be glad of it. Same goes for the sintered base; it may require more regular upkeep than the extruded equivalent, but only this will do if you are planning on tackling bigger features.
No one at K2 has re-invented the wheel with this, but some designs have proven to stand the test of time. A high-end true twin park destroyer is one of them. So maybe it’s not an Enjoyer, but for the right rider the K2 Afterblack will definitely be enjoyable.
