Gnu and Forest bailey knocked heads and dreamed up one of the best park boards of the year in the Gnu Space Case – but they didn’t stop there. The Gnu Head Space snowboard is part of the same family, although with a few significant changes and a substantial drop in price.
For starters, the Gnu Head Space is softer than the Space Case, making it more suited to easy-going runs and butter sessions. While it also has an asymmetrical element, it’s less prominent, resulting in a slightly more conventional ride.

The most significant difference is in the profile; the Head Space has something closer resembling a classic camber board, instead of the famous Mervin combo. It’ll pop plenty, and hold an edge well – especially with the Magne-traction, which uses a wavy edge that grips the snow at multiple points – but won’t float as well in pow as the Space Case.
Not that it matters much – this is way more suited to the park than the backcountry, and if you were planning on spending a lot of time out of bounds then even the Space Case wouldn’t be the right call.
Instead, enjoy the Gnu Head Space’s soft flex as you have the best jib and mini-shred sessions of your life. Then remember how much is still left in your wallet, ready to be put towards the next trip.
