After receiving a bit of a redesign last winter, the Bataleon Goliath snowboard has been left largely unchanged for 2018/19. As a result, there’s just as much reason to consider this as your one-board solution.
At first glance the Bataleon Goliath is every inch the conventional all-rounder, with a classic camber profile, medium flex and not-quite-twin outline. Compared to the likes of the Bataleon Surfer, it’s positively vanilla; but of course, being a Bataleon, there’s also the Triple Base Technology to take into account.

Each end of the Bataleon Goliath has a three-step, spoon-like shape. When straightlining, it’ll feel much like a regular snowboard, but changing from edge to edge has a slightly smoother feel. In powder, that same design increases flotation, and you’re also less likely to catch an edge when pressing it to the metal in the park.
New for this year are hollow, curved carbon rods on each side, running parallel to the sidecut to improve the Goliath’s edge hold and carving performance. Meanwhile the core is now half poplar, half paulownia, a reliable formula for lightweight strength.
If you like the sound of 3BT’s benefits but don’t want to push the boat out completely, the Bataleon Goliath would be a great option.
