For most riders, a fully-stocked quiver is the dream. Having different boards for different conditions means that you make the most out of every day, whatever Mother Nature has planned. Nitro asked Bryan Fox and Austin Smith to draw up a few specialist sticks, and the new Nitro Squash is one of their creations.
“this is probably the one best suited to riding firmer snow”
Like everything in the Quiver Series, the Nitro Squash has a tapered directional shape. With any luck you can take it out in the powdery conditions so enjoyed by its co-creators, but exercise caution; it’s a bit of a beast. That’s great news when opening up on a wide pow field, or letting that wide spoon nose blast through cruddy stuff, but tighter runs that require more nimble riding might be tricky.
Of the whole range, this is probably the one best suited to riding firmer snow. The classic camber profile grips and rips, and the stiffness makes it stable at whatever face-melting speed you can get to via the sintered base. A little extra waist width means you can get lower in the carves, and beech stringers in the core provide a more stable ride.
If you’re going to be dropping half a grand on a quiver board, though, it’s great to know you don’t have to hide it away until it dumps. Wherever you like to ride, and in whatever conditions, the Nitro Squash can let you really indulge your speed demon.
