The Flow Micron Chill has had a few tweaks for its latest winter – not least that slightly pointed nose and tail, an unusual sight in a kids board. While that doesn’t make a huge difference to the ride, it’s a good indicator that this board is made for those moving well past those sketchy first turns.
“The mellow flex and true twin shape make it just as fun for messing about in the park, or on the piste”
Unlike the majority of kids boards, the Flow Micron Chill features a sintered base (a new feature for 2017/18), so it’ll carry a grom along as fast as they dare. It does require more regular upkeep than its extruded equivalent, but you get out what you put in.
The profile is also a little more techy than your average grom vehicle. It’s a mostly cambered construction, broken up with flat sections that make it a little easier to stay afloat in pow, or to take to boxes and rails. It can hold an edge when you need it to, and delivers more pop than flat-based or rocker boards.
At the same time, it’s no out-and-out charger. The mellow flex and true twin shape make it just as fun for messing about in the park, or on the piste. Thanks with its new wide sizes, the Flow Micron is also perfect for kids whose feet are currently outgrowing the rest of them.
