UPDATE: Check out our review of the new 2018/2019 K2 Line Up here
The K2 Lien FS is a genuinely interesting take on binding design. While many brands are looking to reduce the level of contact with the board (and therefore improve board flex), none do it quite like this.
“Three urethane discs sit underneath the K2 Lien FS, and that’s the only part of the binding that touches your deck”
Three urethane discs sit underneath the K2 Lien FS, and that’s the only part of the binding that touches your deck. As you ride, the strategically-placed discs not only help to absorb vibrations, they also allow your foot to slightly rock in all directions. The result is a looser , surfier feeling that feels good in all conditions but especially in powder.
The highback is made from urethane, the stuff that’s in skateboard wheels. It’s light, strong and – aided by a targeted cutaway – has just the right amount of flexibility for something like the K2 Lien FS.
The ‘Perfect Fit’ toestrap makes a pretty big claim, but it’s an accurate one. Toe straps don’t come more minimal than this, so it’s nice and light, and the large window means it’ll work with any boot. If you’re got bigger feet, there’s also less chance that you’ll experience drag.
More aggressive riders may prefer the Lien AT, but if you like a mellower setup that nevertheless won’t wilt under pressure, the K2 Lien FS could be the one.
