UPDATE: Check out our review of the 2018/2019 Rome D.O.D here
The Rome D.O.D. binding first appeared last year, and was an instant hit – as was its ‘beer’ colourway, which returns for 2017/18 as one of five designs. As for the binding tech, the Rome D.O.D. essentially remains unchanged.
Like many Rome bindings, this has an asymmetrical highback which offers extra comfort. It’s got shock absorbing qualities too, which is ideal when you’re exploring rough terrain or taking heavy landings in the park. The straps are comfortable and lightweight, with padding that’s effective without being overly spongy
“The Rome D.O.D. is a solid all-rounder that allows you to be bold in your riding”

The heelcup is made from tough-as-nails aluminium, and it extends from there to right underneath the front of your foot. When you rock onto your heels, heaps of power is transferred to the heel edge, and likewise with the toes. Edge to edge response is therefore as efficient as you could want, and it offers a more conventional feeling than the likes of the Katana or Vice, which only have the aluminium down one side rather than both.
The result is a solid all-rounder that allows you to be bold in your riding, and remains reliable and predictable throughout. Based on its first two years, we’ll bet that the Rome D.O.D. is sticking around for a long while yet.
