All the best to Mark McMorris after reports that the Canadian ripper has had another nasty incident, just over a year after breaking his femur at Air + Style last year.
The heavy hitter had been having a great recovery season after last year’s injury, before apparently being caught out on a backcountry trip with his brother and friends in Whistler. Mark was rushed to hospital for double surgeries after suffering a collapsed lung and ruptured spleen, as well as jaw, left arm, pelvic and rib fractures.
He’s since been confirmed for the Canadian Olympic team ahead of next year’s games in Pyeongchang, so undoubtedly all efforts will now be going towards a plan for recovery over the summer, although according to Snowboard Canada’s team physician it’s still too early to tell exactly how long that might take:
“While both the mandible and humerus fractures were complicated injuries, the surgeries went very well and both fractures are now stabilized to heal in excellent position. It is too early to speculate on a timeline for Mark’s recovery.” – Rodney J. French
In the meantime, we’re sending best wishes to Mark for a speedy healing period after what sounds like a very nasty slam. Heal up soon dude.
