Burton Easy Livin 2016-2017 Snowboard Review

The Details:

Music fans reading this will have no doubt already been won over by its Led Zeppelin-inspired graphics, but the Burton Easy Livin is more than just a snazzy paint job. It’s the board of choice for Whitelines favourite and people’s champ Danny Davis, who uses this in the halfpipe, the powder and elsewhere.

The Burton Easy Livin is available in three different lengths, each with slight variations in outline shape. The 152cm is the shortest, made slightly stubbier for easy maneuverability in the park, while the 158cm version has slightly pointed ends for extra float in the powder. Meanwhile the 155cm version is more of an all-rounder, with an appropriately classic shape.

All three lengths now feature a classic camber bend, replacing the previous hybrid version. That makes a lot of sense for achieving DD’s trademark amplitude in the pipe, or tearing up groomers and shaped features in true Peace Park style. Its true twin shape and flex isn’t the best for deeper snow, but if you can handle it then it certainly leaves all backcountry freestyle doors open.

It’s also been tricked out with Burton’s top tech, such as the weight-reducing Squeezebox core and slightly protruding ‘Frostbite’ edges. The result is a high-end freestyle gun that’ll reward the deserving rider in spades.

Tester’s Verdict

Sam McMahon – Whitelines

“All-mountain boards are always a compromise, but by reverting back to camber this year Burton look to be pushing this slightly more towards the more powerful, experienced rider.

It was very fast on the groomers, super quick edge-to-edge and felt pretty lively and snappy underfoot, though the power does seem to be concentrated between the feet. This meant that nose and tail could feel a bit soft, but for less advanced riders this could be a great introduction to camber as it made the ride a bit more forgiving.

All in all this was a ton of fun to take off side hits and butter around on – a board with which to savour the moment, rather than just tear around. Something, I’m sure, Danny Davis would most definitely appreciate.”
