After poor conditions in Andorra a fortnight ago, the Freeride World Tour is kicking off their French leg in Chamonix today. There was a fresh dump of snow in Haute Savoie overnight (we can attest to this via some pre-work powder laps this morning in nearby Avoriaz) and with bluebird conditions, things are looking much better for the riders this morning.
Leading the men’s snowboarders with his golden bib, Sascha Hamm will be looking to repeat his victory from the first stop, which would be enough to qualify him for the Alaskan fourth leg.
Meanwhile in the women’s comp, newcomers Marion Haerty and Kjersti Buass will both try and upset the usual order of things with their park-based backgrounds.
Basically, the snow is on, the sun is shining and there’s drama, tension and above all POWDER this morning. Tune in!
