Cairngorm Mountain finally closed last weekend after Scotland’s most epic season in over fourteen years. On June 6th 152 riders were still hitting the slopes, an absolute record for Scottish resorts!

The resorts opened in November, a first for the highlands since 1991, meaning the season was more than 7 months long! Angela Dingwall, the general manager of the Glencoe resort, said: “We didn’t have any thaw at all, with lots of powder and only the odd patch of ice. It was picture postcard stuff.”

Cairngorm Mountain continued getting fresh dumps throughout the season with an average of 710 cm across the mountain.

Over the course of this record-breaking season the resorts of Aviemore, Glenshee, Glencoe and Nevis attracted over 373,782 skiers – nearly four times the numbers from the previous year. With temperatures plummeting to below -17c and plenty of fresh powder, thousands of shredders swarmed to the highlands preferring the more economical £30 day pass to the great euro expense.

One of the peaks of the season was Vans Dawn of the Shred competition in April. Hosted at Cairngorm Mountain, it boasted the UK’s biggest ever kicker and a park set up that even Mammoth would be proud of.
