Amplid Paradigma 2015-2016 Snowboard Review

Setting the standard

The Details:

German snowboard legend Peter Bauer set up Amplid in 2005, and has spent the intervening years forging a top-drawer quiver of snowboards (and skis). The Paradigma is their all-mountain stick of choice, and it’s been given a bit of a revamp for the coming winter.

The camber profile has been mellowed out to better suit less aggressive riding, and is slightly set back for increased stability – with the added bonus that it’ll stay atop the powder too. You can still ride it switch though, so there’s no need to shy away from freestyle. It’s more for your big-and-burly kicker and pipe tricks rather than jibbing and buttering, but nothing’s ruled out.

It’s towards the stiff end of the spectrum, so you’ll be able to charge the piste or lap the pipe with confidence, and the carbon stringers running from tip to tail help to make up for the reduced pop of the new camber profile. Strips of basalt that go from the contact points to underneath the feet help to dampen chatter, which will come in handy if you hit crud.

Right out of the wrapper, the Amplid Paradigma is ready for anything. Intermediate to advanced riders in the market for a one-board solution should definitely cast their eyes over this.

TESTER’S VERDICT:
Adam Hoskinsblisssnowboards.co.uk

“The Paradingma is an easy-to-ride board for intermediate riders that want to push themselves, ride steep terrain, and get in soft snow whenever possible.

The mellow camber really helps with edge hold, while the early rise takes away the twitchy feeling you can get from full camber.

That little bit of early rise rocker and slight setback in the stance positions also helps you float in powder, so it really is an all-terrain, all-conditions board.”
