X Games Real Women: Vote Jess Kimura and Hana Beaman!

Ok, so it’s hardly as comprehensive as the Real Snow/Real Street video comps that the The X Games puts on every year but it seems like ESPN have finally clocked on to the fact that women film video parts too. Once again, the idea is that eight individuals each submit a 75 second video part and go head to head in a knockout format. As always, the overall winner will be decided by a panel of judges but the fan favourite will be decided by, well… the fans!

However, instead of running separate sport-by sport editions like is done with the men, ESPN have instead opted to lump all the girls from snowboard, ski, skate and surf into one big contest – which is a little odd when you think about it. Will a skater be able to compete with a snowboarder considering that a higher percentage of women snowboard rather than skate? Or will a skater gain more votes because overall, the skate market is a bigger one? Either way this could get interesting, with relevant brands in each of the four sports coming together to spur on both their riders and the sport that those riders represent.

It goes without saying that Whitelines will be spurring on the two snowboarders in the competition, Jess Kimura and Hana Beaman. Jess is up against skier Michelle Parker in round one, while Hana is facing vert skater Mimi Knoop (what a name eh?).

Jess’ part is filled with some heavy urban tricks, banter with a comedy security guard and a rad wallride to frontside 360 ender:

Hana’s part is a more rounded affair with backcountry, park and a bit of street thrown into the mix, all edited in stylish black and white.

We reckon both are worthy of your votes but then again, being snowboarders we would say that wouldn’t we?
