It’s tempting to watch Xavier De Le Rue go about his business and curse him for being the jammiest bastard on the planet. It’s all too easy to forget that the hard-grafting Frenchman has to deal with more problems and frustrations than any of us will ever come across when we go riding, even when we fly with Easyjet. The new episode of Timeline sees Xav reflecting on the low points as much as the highs:
A broken binding in Russia, A nasty ragdoll in Fieberbrunn, and an aborted descent where a mere six inches of fresh was all that lay between him and bulletproof ice. He’s crazy, but he’s clearly not stupid.
It’s not all doom and gloom though: we also see action from Bec Des Rosses, the final stop of the Nissan Freeride World Tour. While James Stentiford impressed and Maria Kuzma got swept away, Xavier clocked up his fourth win of the tour with a run that included an insane double-cliff drop.
Now he’s being jetted off to Jackson Hole to get shots for Further with Jeremy Jones, the sequel to their groundbreaking flick Deeper. Then it’s a trip to Alaska with Absinthe. OK, so maybe he is the jammiest bastard on the planet….
