The Nike Snowboarding Project is one edit away from being fully released on the interweb. For each chapter, including the most recent park one and the street one before it, a bonus video has been released as a kind of mini-teaser. The upcoming third and final chapter is produced by Justin Hostynek of Absinthe Films and is the backcountry focused edition of the project. In the bonus video here, Nicolas Müller, Gigi Rüf and Danny Kass reflect on the changes in the video world and go back to basics by shooting with a Super 8 camera. The footage is all well and good but what really entertained us here was Nico and Gigi’s commentary – they both have a certain euro-tinged way with words that is as endearing as it is downright cheesy. Was Nico a poet in a former life? Quite possibly.
By the looks of things Chapter 3 is going to be grainy, arty and perhaps a bit of a throwback when it comes to shooting. We’re curious to see how it turns out – as we know from the latest Absinthe film Resonance, Justin and the crew are very much supporters of keeping snowboard films on film and not ditching it all in favour of crisp HD. Will it end up looking like an Absinthe B-roll edit or will it bring anything new and exciting to the proverbial table when it drops on the 11th of December? We wait with baited breath.
